The International Center for Infectiology Research (CIRI) and the Cancer Research Center of Lyon (CRCL) is jointly organising the 1st International Symposium on Immune responses in Cancer and Infection that will be held in the Charles Mérieux Auditorium at the “l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon” from the 13th to 15th February 2017.
Novel biotherapies, specific kinase inhibitors and immunomodulatory antibodies have revolutionized the treatment of cancer, autoimmunity, and infectious diseases. This new era of molecular medicine has become possible thanks to major advances in immunology. The focus of this symposium is therefore to highlight recent progress in immunology, from the early steps of the immune response to the late regulation of inflammation and T and B cell responses. The symposium will also cover innate sensing, immune checkpoints, and effector mechanisms. New technologies including genome editing, exome sequencing and live cell imaging will be highlighted during the program as their use has been a major contributory factor to recent advances. The symposium, organized by scientists from two leading research centers in Lyon, the CIRI and CRCL, will bring together clinicians and researchers interested in the immunology of cancer and infections to present and discuss the latest scientific advances. How the current understanding of immune mechanisms might enable the development of next-generation vaccines or curative therapies for patients with cancer or infections will be an over-arching theme of this first international symposium.
Based on the scientific scope of the meeting, the following thematic sessions are planned:
- Danger detection: Innate sensors
- Initiation of antigen-specific responses: dendritic cells
- Immune modulation: role of innate lymphoid cells and unconventional T cells
- T cell response and immune checkpoints
- B cells and humoral responses
- Mechanisms of regulation and regulatory cells
An internationally renowned panel of experts has already accepted to present their data at the symposium and we are expecting over 300 scientists and clinicians to attend. It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us in Lyon in February 2017.
